A short boat trip from Kristiansand to Bragdøya, offering beaches, hiking trails, and coastal heritage sites in a scenic island setting.

Take the boat from central Kristiansand (Pier 6) to Bragdøya – a peaceful green island just 15 minutes away. On the island’s northern side lies the Bragdøya Coastal Heritage Centre, managed by a local volunteer association. Here you’ll find Saltebua, a restored salt storehouse with a mackerel exhibition and seasonal café, as well as Thaulow’s House – Kristiansand’s first manor house, built around 1770 – now used for exhibitions and events. Traditional boatbuilding and workshops are also part of the site.

The island has several beaches, rocky bays and calm coves suitable for families. Marked trails lead across the island through open pastures, historic spots, and scenic viewpoints.

  • Short boattrip in the beautiful archipelago outside Kristianstad

  • Visit restored cultural buildings including Thaulow’s House and Saltebua

  • Good swimming spots and walking trails throughout the island

Bragdøya Kystlag is a volunteer-based organization preserving local coastal culture. The ferry runs year-round from Lumber. The MS Bragdøya summer route connects several islands in the Kristiansand archipelago.

  • Return boat ticket from Kristiansand
  • Access to the heritage centre and café (subject to opening hours)
  • You are eligible to receive a full refund of the booking amount if you cancel your reservation at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

Meeting Point

The meeting point is at Pier 6, which is reached via the blue-painted walkway from Rådhusgata.
